BC Road blocked for hours after police thrash drivers | 'Traffic cops charge Rs 200 for parking, Rs 30 as entry fee to BC Road' | | SUMIT SHARMA
JAMMU, Aug 26: Traffic on ever busy BC Road came to a stand still for hours together following police's baton charging of drivers for 'illegally' parking their vehicles outside General Bus Stand. In the incident, two drivers sustained injuries and their vehicles got damaged. They have been identified as Yasir son of Tuffail Hussain of Rajouri, driver of vehicle No JK02AU 675 and Ravi Kumar son of Roop Lal of Sunderbani, driver of vehicle No JK02AG 8547. The high voltage drama started in the evening hours when bus stand police swung into action against the erring drivers who allegedly have illegally parked their vehicles on road. Irked over police action, the Drivers Union led by its president Mohinder Kumar blocked the road and held protest demonstration against police. The Union members alleged that police brutally thrashed the drivers who in the process received serious injuries. After getting the information of a blockade by the drivers, senior police officers reached the spot and pacified the agitating drivers. No case against any individual has
