JYF alleges high level corruption in JU | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 27: Jammu Youth Forum has alleged that the authorities at the Department of Distance Education, University of Jammu are responsible for mounting irregularities and discrepancies in the functioning. Addressing a press conference here today, Balbir Kumar, President, JYF, JU said that online admission system has utterly failed in the DDE due to the negligence of the director, DDE. He said, "Adopting on line system has created more chaos and the practice was well coordinated. It appears that the online mode was adopted just to benefit some agency and it is clear that the officials of DDE would have drawn commission from the hired agency. Such practices would never be allowed in the university. We cannot allow some corrupt JU officials to exploit the students' money. Prof Deshbandhu should take the responsibility of the irregularities and resign from the post." He also alleged that the recently issued tender for the publications was meant to incorporate a Delhi based agency. Balbir said, "The director of DDE has devised the whole tender to favour Vikas Publications, Noida. This is the sheer case of corruption and the said director has snatched the first right of the people of Jammu. It is not a healthy practice to overlook local traders. Most importantly, all such things have not been stopped by the Vice Chancellor. As the head of the institution, he would have checked the malpractices." He further warned that if the authorities failed to take necessary action in this regard, they would resort to mass protest. |
