Would BJP MLAs 'follow' hard hitting line of party MPs in Parliament….? | Autumn session of J&K Assembly | | Early Times Report jammu, Aug 27: With only a month left for the State unit of Legislature to begin in the summer capital, the opposition parties in Jammu appear to be in no mood to do any 'homework' on the issues over which they can take on the NC led coalition Government on the floor of the House. The legislators of BJP continue to remain divided into two groups , even as the issues on which 11 of them can corner the Government remain more or less same, all having been elected from constituencies in Jammu. The moot question is whether they would toe the similar line their party at the national level has adopted in taking the UPA led Government head on over coalgate issue in both Houses of Parliament….? The State unit of BJP has been deriving a feeling of pleasure and pride from the fact that party has been able to disrupt Parliament for the last many days over CAG observations over the issue and cornering the Congress led UPA Government, insisting on Prime Minister's resignation. BJP's clamour and constant ruckus forced the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to make a statement in the Lok Sabha today. Unrelenting, the Party MPs did not stop on this contending this was contradicting in content and therefore not convincing to pave way for the debate. What shape the turn of events shall take on what seems to be fresh political crisis at the national level remains to be seen. But one is prompted to peep and see if the BJP legislators are inspired by the role of their party MPs and would they imbibe any amount of convictions and strength with which they are 'fighting' with consistent uproar in both the Houses, and adopt a similar strategy in the forthcoming Autumn session of Assembly. As for the issues related to Jammu province and Jammu people, there are plenty of them in current situation , mostly problems and hardships in day to day life that have been aggravated due to absence of Government in the winter capital. The superficial visits of Jammu based Ministers have proved futile in settling such issues or coming forth with any solution. Neither BJP nor Panthers Party members have so far hit out at the Government on any of these basic problems which Jammuites and the people at the various constituencies have been facing and the indifferent attitude of Government towards the plight of people. If one makes a quick recall of the role of BJP legislators in the House in recent past, it looks unlikely that they would follow the way their party is treading at present in the Parliament, no matter the issue or intensity of the issues is totally different. When legislators of BJP were in one group two years back, they would occasionally create an impact of unity on a host of political issues with resounding noise and clamour on the floor of the House. Post cross voting episode they have fallen apart, behaving almost like rivals in the House . It is high time if the BJP , no matter only four of them in one group do some homework ahead of the session on the issues which can be raked up during the brief session of Assembly . This would do some image building benefit in the eyes of the people whom they consider their 'own' and above all take them out of tag of 'team B' of NC , as often alleged by their rivals. |
