50 fresh PoK guests among 105 cross sides on LoC in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 28: Fifty fresh guests from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) were among 105 people who crossed sides on the Line of Control (LoC) at Kaman post, the last Indian military post in Uri sector. The weekly bus service, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK, was suspended last week on August 20 in view of the Eid-ul-Fitr. However, the service was resumed yesterday and because of large number PoK residents and Kashmiri returnees. It took a longer time to check their documents, official sources said here today. They said 50 PoK guests, including 24 women and three children arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot to meet their relatives, separated in 1947. Sources said 19 Kashmiri, who had gone to PoK earlier and celebrated Eid there, also returned to their homes yesterday. They included eight women and one children. Similarly ten Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the LoC. Twenty-six PoK residents, who also celebrated Eid in Kashmir, returned to their homes, after completing stay here. They included ten women and three children. The service, started on April 7,2005, has helped thousands of families divided in 1947 to meet each other. So far this year 563 PoK residents visited Kashmir while 288 from Kashmir crossed to other side to meet their relatives after their names were cleared by the security agencies of India and Pakistan. |
