After Amarnath, Buda Amarnath VHP to start yatra for Chota Amarnath now | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 28: After starting the yatra for Swami Amarnath Shrine in Kashmir Valley and Buda Amarnath Shrine in Mandi Poonch of Jammu region in the nineties, which were abandoned due to militancy violence in 1989-90, the Vishaw Hindu Parishad (VHP) has now concentrated on Chota Amarnath shrine at Danshwar in Bandipora district of North Kashmir. A high level VHP delegation today left for Kashmir Valley to take the stock of the situation and explore possibilities to start annual pilgrimage to holy cave which has been abandoned due to terrorism in Valley. Though a local Hindu body which was managing the shrine on the occasion of Sawan -Purnima this year had planned to take yatra to the holy cave but the authorities did not permit the same for reasons best known to them. The local Hindu body had made all arrangements for taking the yatra to holy shrine but they had to abandon the plan at last minute. However with the intervention of VHP on the plea of various tour and travel organizations and Hindu bodies there is every likelihood that the Chota Amarnath yatra will also be started from next year with much fan fare and religious fervour. Besides exploring possibilities of taking holy pilgrimage to Chota Amarnath in Bandipora where a natural Shivlingam lies in the cave, the VHP in coordination to other social and religious organizations is looking forward for exploring the possibilities of opening the famous shrine of Manasbal Lake and Kheer Bhawani to pilgrimage tourism from next year. The main idea behind this objective is to boost the economy of the people living in this belt of Valley, A VHP spokesman said. He said various delegations of the people called on the leadership of the organization asking it to take steps in opening the ancient shrines of Kashmir including Chota Amarnath, Manasbal Lake, Kheer Bhawani, Wullar lake to pilgrimage tourism and the organization after giving a well thought has decided to explore possibilities for the same. The spokesman said the VHP after successfully running the Buda Amarnath yatra for over a decade now is looking for opening new religious shrines for the pilgrims in the state which have been made out of bound for the yatris during the militancy period. He said the VHP has received encouraging signals from the majority community of the state in this regard as they have shown their willingness of opening all these shrines for pilgrims as was a tradition prior to 1989. Besides, Danshwar VHP will also organise annual pilgrimage to Harishwar in Zewan area near Srinagar city from next year where also a natural shivlingam is in the holy cave. The VHP leaders who left for Kashmir today besides meeting the administration will also meet the prominent Muslims in the respective localities to solicit their support and cooperation in starting the holy pilgrimage to these shrines, the spokesman added. |
