Attack Congress to get Lokpal bill passed, says Bedi | Kejriwal's Political Ambition | | ET REPORT JAMMU, Aug 28: Prominent member of the disbanded Team Anna Kiran Bedi is up in revolt against Arvind Kejriwal. She today said in Bangalore that Kejriwal has committed a mistake by equating Congress with the BJP and that it would be better if he focused only on the Congress, which is in the driver's seat and which can get the Jan Lokpal Bill passed in the Parliament, as it and its allies have the required numbers. She has said Kejriwal has not displayed political maturity by opening all the fronts at the same time. She, in fact, said that the Team Anna is in complete disarray, that its members like Kejriwal have harmed the movement against corruption by thinking in terms of taking a plunge in the country's political arena to contest elections and enter lawmaking bodies and that they have deviated from the original path. Kejriwal has, according to one report, announced that he would float his political outfit on October 2. The upshot of her whole argument was that the time has come for Anna Hazare to intervene and make Kejriwal see reason. Bedi has not been associating herself with the activities being organized by Kejriwal and his associates like controversial Prashant Bhushan, Sanjay Singh, Gopal Rai, Manish Shishodia, Sazia Ilmi, Kumar Biswas, to mention only a few, after Anna, Kejriwal, Shishodia and Rai ended their fast-unto-death on August 4. She is holding her aloof saying they have, instead of focusing on the Congress party, are indulging in activities which would defeat the purpose for which India Against Corruption was launched under the inspiration of Anna Hazare and that she is committed to the cause and not committed to those having political ambitions. She had, it needs to be noted, not joined the August 26 protests organized by Kejriwal in Delhi. In fact, she had candidly told Kejriwal & Co through tweet that they should gherao Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and not the national BJP president Nitin Gadkari, thus clearly indicating her hard approach towards the Congress and the Congress-led UPA Government. Anna publicly expressed his resentment over the manner in which Bedi decided not to join the August 26 protests. Significantly, she did not meet with Anna Hazare who was also there in Bangalore today. Talking to a news channel, she said that she did not meet Anna because she had to go somewhere else. Bedi's approach is right approach. She is right when she asks Kejriwal not to take political plunge, not to open all the fronts and focus only on the Congress and the Congress-led UPA Government, which are at the receiving end these days for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices. The BJP and many other political parties are accusing the Congress and the UPA Government of looting and plundering the natural resources and causing an immense financial loss to the exchequer. The BJP and its allies are after the Prime Minister's head. They have made the parliament dysfunctional. There are many who share the views of Bedi and say that Kejriwal's actions have caused an irreparable damage to the crusade against corruption. It is extremely unlikely that Kejriwal will listen to the sane counsels of Bedi and others of her ilk.
