Kishtwar villagers refuse to send girls to Govt schools | Attempt to rape terrifies all! | | Asif Iqbal Naik KISHTWAR, Aug 28: In a major setback to government policy of promoting education among the girls, villagers in Sigdi area of Chatroo tehsil in Kishtwar district today refused to send their daughters to the local government school after an attempt of rape in the school premises. The accused has been identified as 38 year old local teacher Daleep Kumar son of Sat Lal resident of Pranzial Sigdi posted in Government High School Sigdi. He attempted rape on his student studying in 10th class. As soon as the matter came to the notice of locals, they held a strong protest against the teacher and demanded his arrest and dismissal from services. They refused to send their daughters to the school till the issue is not addressed by the police and education department. "We have decided not to send our children particularly the girls to the school since a teacher Daleep Kumar has attempted a rape on one of his student studying in 10th class," said local Naib Sarpanch Bashir Ahmed. He said that villagers are angry and annoyed with this behavior of teacher and ultimately the people were forced not to send their daughters to schools. He said that since last two days the High School Sigdi is closed as the people are demanding action against the teacher involved in this heinous crime. He said that until and unless the authorities will take action against the teacher, the school will remain closed and no girl will be allowed to go to school. He said that the parents of the girl students are in a state of dismay about the safety and security of their daughters. He said that only after the action will be initiated against the said teacher, they will decide whether to allow the girls to go to school or not. He said that people are in state of fear psychosis. He said that the condemnable action of the teacher forced the villagers to restrict the girls from going to school. He demanded immediate arrest and dismissal of the accused teacher from his services. Several students also expressed the same view and said that the teacher is habitual of passing bucks on the girl students within school. Meanwhile, Chief Education Officer Kishtwar on the basis of the enquiry report from Zonal Education Officer Inderwal vide his order No: CEO/K/12/5641-47 placed the accused teacher under suspension. However, the order of the CEO Kishtwar further reads that in the interest of the administration, the accused teacher is directed to work in Middle School Dangduru of Marwah zone till pending inquiry. Meanwhile, Chatroo police on the basis of the complaint lodged by the father of the victim registered FIR No: 55 U/S 376-C/511 RPC at Police Station Chatroo against the accused teacher and started its investigation. After registration of an FIR, Chatroo police started hunt to trace out the absconding teacher who went underground soon after the victim girl narrated the matter to her parents. As per the reports, the accused teacher in past has also sexually harassed the minor girls inside the school premises. The local villagers said that many parents prefer to remain quite in fear of losing his honor in the society.
