Omar releases books on lies of Sheikh Abdullah | 'Sheikh concocted facts' | | early times report Srinagar, Aug 28: Sheikh Abdullah had lied and concocted facts in his autobiography 'Atish-e-Chinar," reads an article published in Sheeraza, brought out by J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages headed by the grandson of Sheikh Abdullah Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The book was not only released by Chief Minister himself on Feb 21 and as the special edition was MY Taing, former aide of Sheikh Abdullah, the special message was written by his son and union minister Dr Farooq Abdullah. It's a simple and clear reflection of the working of Chief Minister who incidentally holds his grandson on higher esteem and not only carries his autobiography but he hangs his picture in his private and official room. The police have now seized the books but cat is out in the open. The piece has been written by Ghulam Nabi Gauhar . In his piece he has not only tried to demolish the credentials of the Sheikh but has also attacked Taing. Even though the piece may have hurt the sentiments of Abdullah clan but it has inadvertently brought out facts in public domain. It has been established fact that tone and tenor of so called 'autobiography' has been highly communal in nature. The book has portrayed Hindus, not just Maharaja, in very bad light. It had rubbed their sensitivity. It is being viewed as highly degraded piece of writing by learned Kashmiri muslims. It's for this reason that it hasn't been translated in English, leave alone Hindi, till now. Even though government has all the resources for it. The reason for attacking Taing can be presumed on the fact that it is an open secret that the book was written by Taing and only the name of Sheikh Abdullah was given. Taing , whom the writer calls as opportunist, doesn't hold liberal, secular credentials but is viewed in literary circles as slimy and schemer for prestigious posts. The write has said that it was Sheikh Abdullah who was responsible for massacre of Muslims in 1947 as Maharaja was not in power. Though the point has been contested by Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, but it also bring out in open the fact that Sheikh didn't have loyality towards his religious brethren but towards Kashmiri Muslims and he is credited with regional divide. |
