JKDYF resolves to fight for rights of youth and setting up an egalitarian society | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 29: Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Youth Federation (JKDYF), resolved to launch a strong and sustained struggle against the anti-youth policies of state government and for the achievement of a dignified and frustration free life for the youth of the state. Activists present during the 3rd State Conference held today in Srinagar, resolved to launch a strong and sustained struggle against anti-youth policies of the government and to achieve a dignified and frustration free life for the youth of the state. In their speeches the President of the federation, Mohammad Iqbal Wani and General Secretary Arshid Hussian Baba highlighted the problems and challenges faced by the youth the world over, especially in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. They stressed that in the present uni-polar world, global security is at stake while regional conflicts have pushed millions of youth to unemployment and illiteracy. Most of the functionaries of JKDYF alleged the UPA govt. at the centre and coalition govt. in the state have failed in addressing the burning issue of unemployment which has resulted in the frustration of the young generation and wastage of their valuable energy. Regarding the political issue of Jammu and Kashmir, the youth leaders described the history of Kashmir as a absurd story of the denial of democratic rights, broken promises and the inability of the successive governments to deal with the real and genuine issues faced by the people, especially the emerging and growing youth. Professor Gull Mohd Wani of Kashmir University and media personality M.Y,Ganaie Nairang also addressed the gathering. Gh Nabi Malik, General Secretary J&K Kissan Tehreek also spoke on the occasion. Meanwhile state executive committee of the federation with 31 members was elected on the occasion. Advocate Arshid Hussain Baba was elected as the new President while Abdul Rashid Itoo was chosen as the General Secretary. The conference also elected eight delegates who will be participating the 9th Nation Conference of Democratic youth federation of India (DYFI) which is scheduled to be held from 11th to 15thSeptember, 2012 at Bengaluru. |
