Jammu, Aug 29: The Cabinet meeting to be held tomorrow will formally give a nod on the proposed date for Autumn session of Assembly which is likely to begin from September 27 in Srinagar. The Assembly Secretariat will issue a bulletin on matters related to session soon after the Governor summons it formally.
In the Cabinet meeting to be held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also some key issues on agenda which would be discussed threadbare by the Cabinet Ministers of both the coalition partners before given formal approval for the decisions. The agenda would dominate the matters related to Power Development Department, sources said adding that there are some measures envisaged by the Government to what it has termed as 'unbundling ' of PDD.
Sources said while this is general term of taking some drastic steps in overhauling the most vital department in order to improve its functioning at all levels and on all fronts, the steps are largely aimed to do away with some old practices, remove loopholes and lacunae at various levels on account of which the officials are not delivering in a desired manner. These steps would ensure proper services in terms of smooth power supply and streamlining of system at key points, sources said adding that some technical measures to augment the working and functioning of the department are also on anvil and under active consideration of the Government.
The agenda in tomorrow's Cabinet meeting would also see formal nod to a decision related to PDD which would make happy over 3000 employees of the department who have been working as causal laborers. The Cabinet would give nod to regularization or settlement of the daily wagers of department, a decision which was pending for some time. Besides the Cabinet would also give nod to a decision that would ensure pay revision of employees of Jammu Engineering College, sources said.
As regards the go ahead nod to summoning of Assembly session, in the Cabinet meeting only the date of commencement would be declared and a formal calendar to be issued by the Assembly Secretariat would determine the duration of the brief Session of legislature. |
