Police Wives Welfare Mela on August 27
Raju discusses arrangements at a meeting

Srinagar, August 1 : A day-long Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Mela is being organized on August 27, at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium Sonawar, Srinagar. The mela will start at 10 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. The mela will be open for the general public as well.
Arrangements for the mela were finalized at a high level meeting chaired by the Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters), Mr. Radhavinod Raju at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. Other senior officers also participated.
It was decided that various police establishments, government departments and private concerns would set up their stalls depicting the headway in various sectors in development. They would put up their products for exhibition and sale purposes for the general public during the mela on concessional rates
Other highlights of the mela would be Raffle Draw, Lucky Dip, Tambola, Kashmir Embroidery, Ladakhi Craft, Phulkari Work, Target Shooting, Mehandi, Walnut & Willow Furniture, Basholi paintings, Delicious Snacks, Rides and Jhullas and other attractive games.
Elaborating the main objectives of the one day mela, Mr. Raju said that in this mega event Ist prize Esteem Car, 2nd prize three Maruti - 800 Cars, 3rd prize five Motor Cycles, 4th prize five Computer P-IV, 5th prize Video Camera, 6th prize CTV 21” 7th prize A C 1.5 ton, 8th prize C.D.Player (Samsung), 9th prize Aqua guard, 10th prize Carpet, 11th prize Rice Cooker (Panasonic), 12th prize Phillips Stereo, 13th prize 200 gifts of costing Rs.500/-each gift and 14th prize 2000 cash prizes of Rs 100/- will go to the prize winners which would be announced after draw of lots on spot.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Raju impressed upon all ranks of police for coordinating efforts on previous experience to make the event a grand success. Mr. Mushtaq Mohammad Sadiq, Commandant 11th Bn has been nominated as Nodel Officer for the event.
The meeting also decided that raffle draw for fabulous prizes would be conducted at 5 p.m. for which tickets would be available at all districts police headquarters, all armed battalion headquarters from August 3rd and also on spot during the mela. The cost of each ticket will be Rs. 20/-
Among others were present include Inspector General of Police Headquarters, Mr. J.A. Makhdoomi, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Armed, Mr. Z.H.Chisti, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Range, Mr. Farooq Ahmed, SSP, PCR Mr. Showkat Ahmed, Commandant 11th Bn. Security, Mr. Mushtaq Sadiq, SP Traffic, Mr. Abdul Hamid, SSP Security Kashmir, Mr. G.A Dar, AIG (P & W) MR Aftab Ahmed Kakroo., Medical Superintendent ,Police Hospital, Mr. Javaid Ahmed and other senior police officers.
