Excise sleuths seize 2200 unfinished willow bats | | | Early Times Report Jammu/Kathua, Aug 30: Continuing the drive against tax evaders, the sleuths of Excise Department at Toll Post Lakhanpur seized 2200 unfinished willow clefts (bats) being smuggled from Srinagar to Punjab. Official spokesperson said that the following a specific information the joint team and forest department under the supervision of Dy Excise Commissioner, Dr Mustaq Ahmed alongwith S P Sharma Forest Range Officer intercepted a truck bearing registration No.JK03B-2275 and found that under the garb of finished cricket bats they were smuggling 2200 unfinished bats from Kashmir to Punjab. Pertinent to mention this is the second recovery of contraband or banned goods, being smuggled in the month of August by the excise department in coordination with other nodal agency. Meanwhile Dy Excise Commissioner, has appreciated the commendable role of the staff and warned the tax evaders/ smugglers to desist from such kind of illegal activities. |
