Teacher surrenders before Kishtwar police, villagers continue protest

KISHTWAR, Aug 30: Accused in an attempt to rape case of a 10th class student, a teacher of High School Sigdi Daleep Kumar surrendered before Kishtwar police on Wednesday evening.
Kumar surrendered before Chatroo police after police intensified the vigil and restricted his movement, sources said. They added that Daleep Kumar who is son of Sat Pal, a resident of Pranzial Sigdi was forced to surrender by Kishtwar police. Sources said that Kishtwar police conducted series of raids at his Sigdi residence and other places.
After surrendering before police, Kishtwar police produce him before Tehsildar Chatroo (1st class magistrate) who sent the accused teacher on one day police remand. Police said that after the registration of FIR against the accused, they would now produce minor victim before court for recording of statement under 164 RPC before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar.
Police said that they are also verifying some recorded audio conversations in which the accused teacher uses filthy and vulgar language with the minor girl. Meanwhile High School Sigdi remain closed on 4th consecutive day today as a mark of protest against the criminal act committed by the accuse teacher.
Villagers remain firm on his decision not to send their girls to the schools till they get satisfied with safety and security of girl child that the incident would not be repeated in the future. Villagers said that they were keeping close eye on the action of the police, education department and administration against the accused teacher.
Villagers demanded stern action against the accuse teacher and also demanded his dismissal from the services with immediate effect. The villagers said that the incident is shocking one making direct impact on the future carrier of their children's.
They urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene into the matter as an Education Minister and order for termination of services of the accuse teacher so that such incidents could not be repeated in future.
