| Mahigeer covered under Janata Insurance scheme | | | Baramulla, February 07 Under Prime Minister’s programme, seventeen carp fish ponds have been established sofar in Baramulla district for which Fisheries department provided financial assistance of Rs.20.40 lakh to educated unemployed youth. The department collected revenue of Rs.12 lakh by way of licence fee, sale of trout and carp fish, and fishing permits during last ten months. This was revealed at a review meeting of concerned officers held at Sopore today. The meeting was informed that 8550 tonnes of fish production has been recorded in the district during current fiscal year besides 4.85 lakh carp fish seed produced from Trigam Fish Farm stand stocked in trout streams setup at various places. All the 2500 registered mahigeers have been covered under Janata Insurance scheme against which 1000 fishermen were provided nylon twine free of cost. |
