Compensation agreed to martyrs’ families yet has not been paid: Sangarsh Samiti

Jammu, Aug 31: Taking a critical stance on the callous stand of the state government to compensate the land row martyrs, the Shri Amar Nath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti today condemned the state government for not compensating the affected families even after the passage of four years
Shri Amar Nath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti convener Pawan Kohli today while addressing a press conference told media persons that Samiti is going to organize an impressive memorial on Sunday, 2nd of September, 2012 at Geeta Bhavan Jammu to pay floral tributes to the martyrs of the Amarnath Land Row 2008 and to honor the affected families.
Kohli said, "Prof Laxmi Kanta Chawla, a veteran Leader and Social Activist from Punjab will be the chief guest on the occasion while prominent citizens of Jammu too will be participating in the memorial ceremony."
"The function will start with Hawan at 9.00 a.m to be followed by Shardhanjalies at 10.30 a.m. and to be culminated by distribution of Prasad at 1.00 pm, he said.
Speaking on the occasion Samiti leaders regretted that the Govt has failed to fulfill/ implement the entire terms of agreement reached between the Samiti and the Govt., even after lapse of four years. "The compensation to all the martyrs families as agreed by under Clause 3, yet has not been paid. Besides this the govt has also back tracked from agreement under Clause 4 i.e. withdrawal of criminal cases against some persons and the concerned persons are being harassed by the police unnecessarily till date, they added.
Speakers said representative of government also have committed to provide Rs One Crore as corpus fund at the disposal of Chamber of Commerce, Jammu Region for creation of employment opportunity for one member of such family who lost their members or crippled in the agitation but the same still is an doldrums, they said.
The Samiti also condemn the recent statement of a finance minister sparking a new controversy over the widening of routes to the Holy cave both from Pahalgam and Baltal sides under the given recommendations/directions of the Supreme Court.
They said people fully understand the mindset of the Kashmir based rulers who are influenced by the dictates of the separatist and added that such type of attitude at the level of govt is unacceptable to the nationalist people of the State in particular and people of the country at large.
