BJP outrightly rejects ex interlocutors exercise, decides to boycott them | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Aug 31: BJP State Executive has outrightly rejected the fresh exercise undertaken by the ex interlocutors on Jammu and Kashmir and decided to boycott these interlocutors. A resolution to this effect was passed in a Party State Executive here today. The resolution has been drafted by BJP National Executive Member and Chief spokesperson of the state Dr Jitendra Singh. The resolution said in October 2010, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) constituted a team of Interlocutors for Jammu & Kashmir comprising Dileep Padgoankar, Radha Kumar and MM Ansari and In the next one and a half year to follow , the Interlocutors undertook a number of visits to Jammu and Kashmir during which the Government extended them hospitality as "State" guests. It said throughout during this period, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) kept forewarning that these UPA Govt. appointed Interlocutors were working with a pre-conceived mind which could be detrimental to the national interests of the country. It said on 24 May 2012, the Interlocutors made their over 170 page report public and BJP stood vindicated when the contents of the report were revealed. On the same day , that is, 24 May 2012, BJP National Executive Meet adopted a resolution in Mumbai, outrightly rejecting the report and in particular its following references (i) recommendation to make Article 370 special (permanent) (ii) recommendation to review provisions of Indian Constitution extended to Jammu and Kashmir after 1953 (iii) reference to Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK) as Pak Administered Jammu and Kashmir (PAJK) (iv) inadequate redressal of grievances of refugees including displaced Kashmiri Pandit Community (v) inadequate reference to regional discrimination against Jammu and Ladakh. (vi) suggestion to change the nomenclature or translate into Urdu the nomenclature of Chief Minister and Governor, the resolution added. .It said of late, a worrisome new development has unfolded. The Interlocutors, who are now in fact Ex- Interlocutors, have embarked on a fresh exercise to visit Jammu and Kashmir. Ironically, they received the audience of Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde before embarking on this venture and also received the blessings of J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during their visit to Srinagar. The Interlocutors now reportedly plan to visit Jammu. This raises a number of questions: (i) Are these Ex- Interlocutors still recognized by the GoI as Interlocutors even after they have completed their official assignment? (ii) Are these Ex- Interlocutors carrying a clandestine tactic brief from the MHA to embark on the present misventure? (iii) Is there a UPA Govt. plan to re-open the report for revision or review, and if so, is there a clear GOI announcement to this effect? (iv) Are these Ex-Interlocutors entitled to be treated as State Guests by the National Conference led Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir, the resolution asked? It also questioned that Why is the State Unit of Congress Party, which is a part of the ruling coalition, conveniently silent on this development? Why are they hesitant to make their stand clear? The State Executive therefore through a resolution proposing (i) outright rejection of this unconstitutional, illegitimate and illegal exercise undertaken by Ex- Interlocutors to tour the State and convene unwarranted meetings which could vitiate the public anger against the report submitted by them. (ii) the UPA Home Minister at centre and the National Conference Chief Minister in J&K owe to explain in what capacity they are sending out the message of legitimacy to these Ex- Interlocutors by treating them as State Guests. (iii) The BJP boycotts these Ex- Interlocutors as well as their ill-conceived J&K tour with the same conviction as it has earlier rejected the report prepared by them. The resolution was later adopted through voice vote. |
