Kranti Dal opposes caste based reservations in job promotions | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 1: Expressing its resentment over caste based reservation in job promotions for those belonging to SCs/STs; the Kranti Dal called upon all political parties to restrain from caste based politics and urged them not to support the proposed constitution Amendment Bill. In a meeting of Kranti Dal held today under the Chairmanship of State General Secretary Pritam Sharma along with Youth leaders Jagdish Sudan and Rajinder Bhagat to discuss the caste based reservation in job promotions, the party activists strongly condemned the proposed constitution Amendment Bill. "This is the motive of the ruling party to obstruct the unity and growth of this country. Hence, we believe that the proposed constitution Bill should not be tabled, and all political parties should not support it, simply because they want to get the votes of the SCs/STs. This would create a serious situation in the country," Pritam Sharma said. Further, Sharma said that the Supreme Court had, in April, overruled the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to provide reservation in government job promotions. |
