CWA demands to extend VLDS for electricity consumers | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 1: Consumers' Welfare Association' (CWA) has appealed the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) and Power Development Department (PDD) to extend the Voluntary Load Disclosure Scheme (VLDS) for another two months and give more time to the consumers to voluntarily disclose their connected loads to avoid any future heavy penalty and difficulty in getting their loads revised as a result of inspection by the PDD authorities. In a press statement issued here today, the CWA said that under Clause 4.84 to 4.90 of the J&K State Electricity Regulatory Supply Code, (after the consumer is penalized for using loads more than the sanctioned loads) the increase in sanctioned load will become more difficult and may not be allowed as well depending upon the availability of power and the system capacity. It is, therefore, important for the government to extend the VLDS for another two months and allow the electricity users to revise their connected loads. The CWA feels that intention of the PDD is not to penalize the consumers but to improve the distribution system for better and stable power supply to the consumers. |
