| MLC for expediting work for Apni Mandi at Hiranagar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Hiranagar, Sept 1: Subash Chander Gupta MLC and President District Congress Committee Kathua, today, visited the proposed spot for development of Apni Mandi at Hiranagar.
Showing his concern over delayed project of Apni mandi at Hiranagar, Subash Chander Gupta exhorted upon the district officers of Horticulture Planning & Marketing department to make sure that the development activities for construction of Apni Mandi are started immediately. Deputy Director Planning & Marketing department Jammu, was asked by Subash Chander Gupta to take project of Apni Mandi at Hiranagar seriously and make sure that benefits of all Post Harvesting state as well centrally sponsored schemes are extended to poor farmers/ orchardists of Hiranagar well in time.
Speaking over the long pending demand of local farmers for sufficient post harvesting/ agricultural marketing support, the MLC expressed hope that the government shall soon restructure Horticulture Planning & Marketing department so as to open up sufficient agricultural marketing offices in Kathua district. Gupta further said that project of Apni Mandi, when completed, shall provide a marketing platform to local producers of fruit/vegetables & paddy as well as prospective buyers from within and outside Hiranagar tehsil.
