Risking the life of budding talent | | | early times report JAMMU, Sept 1:The sheer neglect on part of the senior officers, specifically those technical staff entrusted with the task to conduct the inter-district activities of the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), is risking the life of those budding talent. In one such glaring example, in violation the laid down norms, the Jammu district fielded its under-14 boys team in the inter-district competition without proper sports kit. Most of the boys in the team were without protection gear of `Shinpad'. In fact, made of some hard stuff, Shinpad protects the Shine bone, an important portion of the leg. As per the rules, official conducting the match never allow a player to the playing arena without Shinpad. However, at K K Hakhu Stadium, even international player of the state, Mandeep Singh, who conducted the matches, allowed the young boys to play without protection gears. |
