| Jammu boys bag U-19 hockey title | | Inter-district hockey, badminton competitions | | early times report
JAMMU, Sept 1: Host Jammu district today clinched boys' under-19 trophy in the divisional level inter-district hockey tournament held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at K K Hakhu Stadium, here.
In the final, played today, Jammu defeated their counterparts from district Poonch by four goals to three. Ravijeet Singh scored two goals for the winners Jammu district while Swastik Bhat and Devinder Singh contributed a goal each.
Earlier, in a preliminary round match, Jammu blanked Samba district 6-0. Manpreet Singh netted four goals, followed by one each from Ravijeet Singh and Swastik Bhat.
Meanwhile, in under-17 final, Poonch trounced Jammu 2-1. Ishtiaq and Nagarat Hussain scored in ninth and 20th minute from Poonch. Later, in under-14 final, Jammu beat Poonch 3-1 in tie-breaker. In the finals, Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, Prof DS Bhau was chief guest, who distributed prizes among the winners. |
