Bhand Pather enlivens in Kupwara | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 2 : On the second day of Bhand Pather, a series of shows were organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi and Natrang. Two new vibrant plays featured at two different places of Kupwara which generated a festive environment in the district. The first play of the day was 'Waqtuk Aalav' written and directed by Manzoor-ul-Hassan, presented by Bomai Luk Theatre and was staged at Malbagh, Kupwara. In the afternoon, the second play 'Dagirous Dodh' written and directed by Munshi Ali was staged at Keegam, Kupwara which was presented by Wullar Theatre. Both the shows received overwhelming response and were witnessed by large crowds, comprising of thousands of audiences. The revival of vibrant folk theatre tradition of Kashmir, Bhand Pather was started last year by Sangeet Natak Akademi and Natrang with the holding of a residential theatre training programme in which twenty new Kashmiri playwrights and theatre directors were trained under the overall supervision of legendary theatre figure Moti Lal Kemmu and were supported by Nissar Naseem, Amin Bhatt, Sajood Sailini, Mushtaq Ali, Dr. Farooq Fiyaz, Bhawani Bashir, Ravi Kemmu and Anil Tickoo. The training workshop was coordinated by Natrang Director and the member of Sangeet Natak Akademi, Balwant Thakur. This major training programme was followed by the production and performances of twenty new Bhand Pather plays which were staged across the length and breadth of Kashmir Valley and were witnessed by lakhs of people.
