Lal Singh announces Relief for affected families | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Sept 2: Member Parliament Udhampur- Doda parliamentary constituency Ch. Lal Singh, along with a team of senior officers of District Administration, visited Basohli constituency villages affected by incessant rains . The affected villages visited by the MP included Hote, Choi, Tridwan, Kainta, Dakhnaka, Batindi, Dhanna and Berni. ADDC Kathua Ajay Jamwal, XEN PWD,XEN PHE, XEN PDD, XEN Flood Control, Tehsildar Kathua, BDO Kathua, SHO Lakanpur accompanied the Member Parliament during the visit. The team first visited Hote village and took stock of the damage caused by the heavy rains. The MP directed the XEN Flood Control to raise protection wall within three months time in flood affected and flood prone areas ensuring safety of the residential and agricultural land. The instructions were also passed to XEN PHE for early restoration of water supply in the area. The inhabitants of Choi village apprised the team about destruction caused due to unprecedented rains resulting in loss of one human life. Member Parliament expressed sympathies with the family members and announced Rs 20,000/- ex gratia to the next of the kin of the deceased. The inhabitants put forth the demand of construction of a local road , for which MP passed instructions to concerned to formulate the plan. Ch Lal Singh also announced ex gratia relief of Rs 20000 to Mohinder Singh whose house was damaged in recent rains. The MP issued instructions to flood control department to lay crates and protection walls for the safety of the area. An Ex-gratia relief of Rs 40000 was also given away by the MP to the family of Baldev Singh of village Choi. In village Tridwan the team visited the damaged newly built pacca house of Manggo Ram and directed the rural development officials to make estimate of the damage caused to the house. For the safety measures MP directed the flood control department to lay bunds and crates near habitation alongside the Tridwan nallah. The Team, during the visit to Dakhnaka village, asked the officers to restore water supply to the area at the earliest and also install 25 KV transformers in upper Dakhnaka area. In village Batindi , the MP met the Bakkerwal families who lost two of their family members to the flash floods. Ch Lal Singh assured every help to the aggrieved family and issued instruction to the rural development department to access the damages and compensation for the losses incurred. During the visit the team also assessed the damages in Berni village which has been cut from the rest of the state with huge landslides. The team asked the concerned to bring in more machinery to clear the road within one day. MP also called for installation of protection wall alongside the road to save agriculture land and property. He asked the XEN PDD to install a 25 KV transformer at the village on priority. |
