| MLA Doda reviews arrangements for Choundi Mata festival | | | Early Times Report
DODA, Sept 2: MLA Doda today visited Abdul Majid Wani Kulhand village in Doda constituency and review arrangements made by the district administration for historical Yatra at ancient temple of Choundi Mata located at a height of approximately 14000 ft., four kilometers from village Kulhand. A three days festival has been organised starting from September 4 till September 6 wherein thousands of pilgrims are expected to visit to pay obeisance before Mata Choundi.
Thousands of pilgrims from all over the state as well as outside J&K visit holy temple of Choundi Mata, every year. The festivity shall start on September 3, itself, when the Charri Yatra shall start from Shiv Mandir Doda and reach Kulhand on the same date. After one night Jagran, the Charri Yatra shall reach Choundi Mata temple on September 4,. MLA Doda was accompanied by district officers from PHE, Irrigation, RDD, Revenue, PDD, Health, Agriculture and Horticulture. On spot directions were issued to the CMO Doda to keep stationed special medical teams at Choundi Mata and Kulhand from September 3 to 6. Majid Wani addressed a gathering of the people from Kulhand village and asked them to extend full cooperation to the visiting guests during the festival period. Wani also assured them that the middle school Kulhand functioning since 1947 shall be sooner upgraded.
Regarding negligible post harvesting/ agricultural marketing support to poor farmers of Kulhand and adjoining areas, Wani expressed hope that Marketing Department so as to open sufficient Area Marketing and Assistant Grading & Marketing Offices in Doda district. |
