| Gupta discusses working of district Congress | | | Early Times Report
Hiranagar, Sept 2: Subash Chander Gupta MLC and President District Congress Committee Kathua, today, reviewed functioning of Block Congress Committee Hira nagar. Apart from Block President Bishan Dass Sangra (Sarpanch), all other office bearers, local Sarpanchs/ Panchs and active members of BCC Hiranagar were present on the occasion. The MLC was apprised by the members of BCC Hiranagar about very poor supply of electricity in their villages due to the damaged transformers since last so many days. With a result, the local inhabitants particularly farmers and students are facing great problems. It was also brought into the notice of Subash Chander Gupta that non functioning of Motor/pumps at the tube wells, due to non supply of electricity in their areas, have resulted in failure of water supply at various stations. Speakers demanded for the early construction of bridge over Tarnah Nallah on old Samba Kathua road for connecting Hirangar Tehsil Headquarter with the border areas of Hiranagar Tehsil. The members of BCC Hiranagar also demanded for up gradation of transformers and early commissioning of new receiving station at Chakara, Rajbagh and Jatwal/Naran. The Sarpanchs and Panchs were highly critical of the government for paying no heed to their long pending demand for providing post harvesting/ agricultural marketing support by the Horticulture Planning & Marketing Department by opening of Assistant Grading and Marketing Office at Hiranagar. Subash Chander Gupta, after listening to their grievances, assured all those present on the occasion that all these issues shall be placed before the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. And, that the coalition government is sincere in addressing all genuine problems being faced by the rural population. The MLC also assured them that the government shall soon release sufficient funds for improvement of almost redundant electrical and drinking water supply infrastructure in their areas.
The MLC assured them to deliberate soon with the Horticulture Minister to order restructuring of horticulture Planning & Marketing department to open Assistant Grading & Marketing Offices at Hiranagar and Billawar so as to provide maximum post harvesting and marketing support to poor farmers scattered in remote and far flung areas. |
