Junior NZ Sport Climbing meet from Sept 7 | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 2: The 1st Junior (boys and girls) North Zone (NZ) Sport Climbing Championship, organised by Mountaineering Association, shall take place at MNDP School, RS Pura near here from September seven. In this two-day competition, about 200 climbers from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand besides host J&K are expected to participate. While Delhi, Punjab and Haryana have already confirmed their entries, others states are likely to confirm their participation within the next couple of days. "Since it is a junior Zonal championship only those climbers, both boys and girls, born in 1996 and after are eligible to compete in the both Lead as well as Speed climbing. The competitions shall be conducted strictly as per IFSC rules and only fresh international standard climbing equipment shall be used," said general secretary of the Association, Ram Khajuria told reporters. Almost all the prominent North Zone climbers including some national medalists have confirmed their participation in the competition and a keen tussle is on the cards in both the categories. Whereas the specialized equipment has been arranged by Mountaineering Association of J&K, the IMF North Zone Committee shall provide adequate technical support and a few officials including the President of Jury, the Chief Route Setter, Judges and Belayers. The Chairman IMF North Zone Committee, S Bhattacharjee has also confirmed his availability during the competition. "The Association has already made elaborate boarding, lodging and transport arrangements for the comfortable stay of the participants and officials to make it a memorable event," informed Ram Khajuria. The Championship is being organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K under the aegis of IMF North Zone Committee and sponsored by J&K State Sports Council. |
