J&K PDTU alleges misuse of electricity in Govt offices | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 2: J&K Peoples' Democratic Trade Union said today that the state of J&K is reeling under acute electricity crisis from the last few months. District President, J&K PDTU, Jammu (Urban) Jasmeet Singh Madaan said that he has visited many offices along with their executive members and found the gross misuse of electricity in the Government offices particularly in Government schools. Many Govt. institutions and offices are blatantly using high voltage bulbs instead of CFLs in their offices and schools and these lights are on even if the officer is not at seat. The other blatant misuse of electricity is the use of ACs and Fans in the Govt. offices even if it is not necessary. Madaan urged the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu to issue a General Order immediately regarding the use of CFLs in all Govt. offices and a compliance report should be solicited by the HODs of each department that they are using only CFLs and not bulbs in their respective offices. In this way, the use of ACs should also be stopped in all the Govt offices forthwith. Merely issuing of advertisements will not yield any substantial results, observes Madaan until and unless frequent raids are not conducted by the Chief Engineer, PDD in the Govt offices and a strict order to save electricity be not initiated. |
