BJYM shouldn't have adopted violent mode to lodge their protest: Former Interlocutor | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 2 : Asserting that their stay in Jammu and Kashmir was highly productive this time, former interlocutors today said that they had gathered extremely important inputs during an interaction with various delegations here. " Our meetings with the different sections are in progress and we will be meeting few of them tomorrow but so far, we have received important feedback on situation in Jammu and Kashmir vis--vis on report submitted to the Union Home Ministry," veteran journalist and former interlocutor Dilip Padgaonkar here told reporters. Padgaonkar flanked by academician Radha Kumar, yesterday arrived here from Kashmir to get feedback on Kashmir report submitted to the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in 2011. He said this time they had a very productive stay in Jammu as compared to their previous visits adding, "the meeting is very confidential and at the moment we cannot disclose anything." On his reaction to the protest of activists of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Padgaonkar said, "we are living in a democracy and everybody has the right to express his voice." He, however, said they (BJYM) should not have adopted violent mode to lodge their protest as it could have also been done non-violently. Activists of BJYM today 'gheraoed' the two former interlocutors on their visit to this winter capital. Three-member team of interlocutors last year in October submitted the report prepared on Jammu and Kashmir to the former Union Home Minister. The interlocutors submitted the report to the government exactly a year after their appointment. The panel was formed after 2010 stone-pelting crisis in Kashmir in which nearly 120 people died. The team visited all 22 districts of the state and interacted with over 600 delegations in the past one year |
