Cong MP opposes 'alliance' with NC in Assembly polls | It is too early, premature to comment, clarifies Soz | | 'Amendment in RTI rules were not required' early times report Jammu, Sept 2: Clearly reflecting a mood of resentment against the ruling ally National Conference, the senior leader of Congress and MP Madan Lal Sharma today opposed and ruled out possibility of alliance with the party in next Assembly elections contending the move would not benefit the Congress in the backdrop of disappointment prevalent among the party workers at grass root level. J&K Pradesh Congress Committee chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz said it was premature to say at present if the two parties would go together during Assembly polls. It was during the rally of the Congress at Nagrota that Madan Lal Sharma opposed to the idea or possibility of having alliance at polls with the party Congress is sharing power with in present coalition regime. The MP in his bold style of expressing things in a way sarcastically remarked at what JKPCC Chief spoke earlier about NC and Congress unanimous on holding elections and that the two parties would go together and in complete unison on this democratic exercise. " How could the two parties move on jointly and friendly in elections when resentment prevails among workers and cadres against NC……", the MP said while referring to some newspaper reports that two parties would fight the polls together. Speaking in the rally he said if at all the high command decides in that favour for Assembly polls, the latter would have to see to it that Congress' manifesto carries weight politically. Prof Soz, sources said, was however referring to the Panchayat elections at Blcok Dvelopment level, Local Bodies polls and polls for four seats of Legislative Council from Panchayats, an issue which dominated agenda of Coordination Committee meeting on Saturday and on which both the parties were unanimous on holding these elections at the earliest. However, later speaking to media Prof Soz while replying a query related to the issue, he clarified that he only spoke in context of the pending polls for BDCs, LC seats and ULBs and that it was too early rather premature to think or speak about alliance with NC during 2014 Assembly polls. Replying to one more query Prof Soz said the amendments in RTI rules which have been effected and approved two days back by the state cabinet were not required at this moment. "I do not think these were necessary and required to be done so urgently….."Prof Soz said, adding however, that "it is my personal opinion …not that of the party". To one more question related to delay in making Vigilance Commission functional, the PCC chief said the government has made recommendations and things were in process. It is pertinent to mention that NC led coalition notified new RTI rules replacing the rules made in 2010 and these were approved by the cabinet in its meeting held on Thrusday.
