GMC Principal in trouble: clarifies one allegation, gets trapped in another | Microscopes worth lakhs stolen from GMC, raises question marks on admn | | Sumit Sharma Jammu, Sept 3: It seems things are not getting smooth for officiating GMC Principal Dr Aniece Choudhry as from one trouble he is being catapulted into another. Dr Choudhry whose appointment was recently challenged now faced rough weather as today it was a day for clarifications for him where he seemed to have utterly failed while he was clearing dust on one issue another protest demonstration was held by GMC hospital administration. In the same time, it was reported that about 22 microscopes worth lakhs were stolen from library of Post Graduate department of physiology, in GMC hospital. The relatives and friends of a deceased person staged massive protest demanded action against doctors whose negligence claimed life of one Balwant Raj Sharma. The protest demonstration was held in a atypical synchronized manner when the officiating Principal Dr Choudhry was clearing his chest before media persons on allegations for alleged callous role of doctors in GMC Hospital about the episode of whisking away of patient in Bollywood style. While, Dr Choudhry was clearing the report published in newspaper' that one Shallo Devi died in GMC hospital due to alleged maltreatment meted out to her at the hospital which forced her relatives to snatch the record file from doctors and took her body to their Bari Brahmana situated residence, some people gathered at the entrance of the gate of GMC hospital and shouted slogans against GMC hospital administration which failed to control negligence of doctors on duty. The protest was held after one Balwant Raj Sharma, died in emergency wing of GMC Hospital. He was rushed to the hospital following his bike was hit by some unknown vehicle at Talab Tillo. The protestors alleged that negligence and callous on the part of doctors claimed his life. However, they were pacified when a three memeber board of doctors comprising Dr Bhupesh Khajuria, Dr Tariq Azad and Dr Manohar was constituted to probe the cause of death. Further a board for autopsy was also constituted which including Dr Rakesh Saraf, Surgery Dr KK Koul , Pathology and Dr Bhupesh Khajuria, forensic which would submitted report for further action. Meanwhile, Dr Choudhry in defensive mood said soon after the incident of leaving hospital without permission of nodal authorities, a committee comprising Dy Medical Superintendent, Officer Incharge Casualty and office Incharge Control Room/Sanitation was constituted to look into the matter immediately. The Principal informed that the said patient (reportedly taken away from GMC&H) was under treatment in MU-I under MRD NO: 633965, MLC No: 3987 since August 27 and has now been re-admitted in MU-III as the previous treatment record was not found and FIR has been lodged in Police Post Medical College Hospital Jammu. "This act of some anti social element, trying to depict and allege therein that the said patient was thrown by Govt. Medical College administration in the corridors of the Hospital is not only uncalled for but also intolerable. This is against norms and medical ethics", Dr Choudhry said, adding, a case in this connection has been registered by police for action. He, however, also said that case of Balwant Raj too will be looked into through the said expert committees. A case against the theft has also been registered by police and inquiry has taken up. |
