| Another lady teacher complains of harassment by the Head | | Not all is well in JU Students demand recall of Director Law School | | Abodh Sharma
JAMMU, Sept 3: Close on the heels of complaints of harassment by a lady Assistant Professor of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Jammu against the head of the department a few weeks back, another lady Assistant Professor of the Law School has been victim of insult and rudeness of another HoD, that too in front of the students.
According to sources, Director Law School Kulwant Singh entered a class room and sat at the back where the said lady Assistant Professor was teaching Family Law to the students Friday last. While the teacher was teaching, the Director got up and crossed whatever was written on the board by the teacher telling her in front of the students that what she was teaching was wrong. Even though the teacher contested that what she was teaching was correct in the light of latest amendment, the Director continued to scold the Assistant Professor maintaining that she was wrong.
Feeling insulted by the undignified behaviour of the Director in the class room in front of the students, the Assistant Professor today met the Vice Chancellor and apprised her of the unreasonable behaviour of the Director and lodged a complaint against him. Infuriated by the complaint , the Director took on the Assistant Professor again scolded her in front of the students.
This time students objected to the bullying of the Director and resented his behaviour against the teacher who has put in over 10 years of service.
The NSUI unit of the Law School and the University have taken a strong exception to the harassment of the lady Assistant Professor by the Director. Students alleged that the Director has a dictatorial and anti student attitude and called upon the Vice Chancellor to immediately replace him. They also threatened not to allow any classes in the Law School till such time the Director was recalled. |
