Panchayat elections cruel joke with people: Mehbooba | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 4: Senior leader of PDP and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baigh has said that the achievements by the government under the chairmanship of Mufti Syeed are a magnificent part of the history of the state. Addressing the public gathering at Shangus, Muzafar Beigh said "Achievements of the government under Mufti Syeed will be written in golden letters in the history of state. It is that government that created sense of security among people and created the atmosphere for common people to live the life of dignity and honour." "PDP will emerge victorious in upcoming assembly elections with majority of seats to form the government" he claimed. He said what PDP did in three years has not been done for last 60 years. He said that to establish the everlasting peace and harmony is the agenda of the PDP. PDP President said the Panchayat elections were a mere joke and the initiative has failed to serve its purpose of empowering people at the grass roots. Mehbooba Mufti said that the main aim and objective of the panchayat elections has been frustrated by the government as gross root democracy doesn't exist anywhere in the state. She said that she had visited all the three regions of the state but didn't find any progress or development in any of these areas. She said that the present government has failed to establish the accountability of the administration and hence has led the state towards to the corruption and anarchy. While giving the reference of the youth of state who had come to met her, she said they (youth) State are not feeling secure and are disappointed with the adverse policies of the present government. She said that the unwanted arrests, killings of innocents and the corruption has became trademark of this government in the eyes of public. Party leaders Peer Mohamad Hussain and Peerzada Mansoor also addressed the rally. |
