Khokha Owners Union, Gummat elects new body | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 4 : The election of Jammu Khokha Owners Union affiliated with Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) was held at Gummat Bazar in which Ashok Kumar was elected as President and later he constituted the body of the union. Rattan Singh was nominated as Senior Vice President, Subash Chander as Vice President, Bansi Lal as Chairman, Gian Chand as Vice Chairman, Ramesh Kumar as General Secretary, Bishan Lal as Secretary, Ashok Gupta as Joint Secretary, Mohan Lal Sharma as Cashier, Anoop Gupta as Spokesman and Gajinder Singh was nominated as Organizer of the Union. Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Kumar said that the Khokha owners of Gummat Bazar have been working since 1955 and earning their livelihood. They are having small kachha khokhas in which they are selling their goods and government charging Rs 8 for per square feet from them but never bothered for the welfare of these khokhawallahs. He demanded that either government should construct pacca khokhas for them or they should be allowed to construct their pacca khokhas themselves, so that their goods may not spoiled due to rains, wind storms etc. He also demanded similar facilities for the pharry wallahs of Gummat Bazar. Newly elected President of Khokha owners demanded that government should provide them bank limit up to Rs 2 to 3 lakhs so that they could expand their business in a befitting manner. |
