Interlocutors to incorporate new recommendations in earlier report | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 4 : The interlocutors, after completing their second innings in Jammu and Kashmir, plan to incorporate some more recommendations in their -page report that they had submitted to the Union Home Minister in October last year. Despite the fact that the neither the Union Home Ministry nor the Government of India made any commitment on implementing some of the recommendations, the two interlocutors, Dileep Padgaonkar and Radha Kumar, spent about six days in the state for securing opinion of a cross section of people on the plus and minus points of their report. Though the two interlocutors had to remain content with brief interaction with a limited number of people and a few political leaders, belonging to the mainstream spectrum, they have claimed that they have collected sufficient material that they would like to add to their earlier report. Once again the separatists refused to have a session with the two interlocutors as was the case last year. Hence the addition to their recommendations would relate to the minority communities of Pandits and Sikhs. The interlocutors may recommend better economic and job package for the Pandit and Sikhs which may border on reservation of seats for them in Government services and professional colleges. The other addition, according to informed sources, may pertain to Article 370 and demand for autonomy. In the new report the interlocutors may clear their stand on these two contentious issues because last time they had been vague about these two issues. It is also expected that the new report may address the eternal dimensions of the Kashmir issue in clear terms so that the stakeholders initiated parleys with the interlocutors report as the basis. |
