District administration Kishtwar launches cleanness drive for Chowghan

KISHTWAR, Sept 4: In order to uplift the face of Kishtwar, District Administration today launched a special cleanness drive of historic Chowgan ground which is losing its glory day by day due to presence of polythene and garbage spread all over the ground having an area of more than 520 Kanals. Students from various government and private institutions, Degree College Kishtwar and Kishtwar University Campus participated beside the members of civil society including MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar and SSP Kishtwar also participated in the mission of the administration. The local people show great resentment over the dumps of garbage spread all over inside the Chowgan ground spreading foul smell. The people also express resentment over the absence of Chief Executive Officer Kishtwar Development Authority Riaz Ahmed for remaining absent from today's event in which more than 1000 people including school children's participated. The locals alleged that CEO Kishtwar Development Authority mostly remains confined to Jammu and Srinagar and did not attended his office at Kishtwar regularly.
Historic Chowgan ground is also being used by the youths of Kishtwar District as playing field, beside large number of people also assembled for morning and evening walks. While talking to "Early Times" Diksha Parihar student from New Era Public School Kishtwar said that she is happy to be the part of today's initiative taken by the District administration for cleaning of Chowgan ground. She said that like other students she came here for taking part in today's event and said that due to presence of lot of garbage, there is apprehension of spreading diseases among the people who visit the Chowgan ground. MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo while talking with the media persons thanked the students and members of civil society for participating in today's event.
