Amendments will reduce RTI to a 'toothless tiger': DPN | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 4 : Jammu & Kashmir Democratic Party Nationalist (JKDPN) an alliance partner in govt today opposed amendments in the RTI Act implemented in state. In a press conference held at party office, Adv Ravinder Sharma general secretary youth wing criticize the govt move by paying surprise over amendment in RTI rules. "The govt should have held a consultation & sought opinion from all stake holders prior to taking any such decision, he said further adding, "Govt had power to make rules but as a citizens of the state and the country every individual had a right to ask what where the reasons that necessitated sweeping changes in the rules." Adv Sharma said reduced the rules from 51 to 13 making the SIC (state information commission) toothless. He added, "In another amendment appellant/ complainant cannot participate by audio or video conference." All member present in press conference said in one voice that these amendments declines the trust of general public or aggrieved about this institution & act should be re-considered immediately.
