EARLY TIMES REPORT
WACHI (SHOPIAN), Sept 4: Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has expressed deep shock and grief over the death of a young man due to electric shock at Hermain Wachi in South Kashmir. It is to mention here that a man identified as Mohd Ashraf Bhat son of Ab Ahad of Hermain Shopian came into contact with a live wire passing through the lane on a very low height causing the death of the said person on spot.
Lambasting inefficiency and callousness of the government and the concerned department PDP president said that besides making repeated requests to replace the damaged wires and poles the government and as well the concerned department turned blind eye to this burning issue thus causing loss of precious lives.
Besides making huge noises and announcements about the replacement and repair of LT and HT supply lines and allotment of huge funds for this purpose nothing is being done on the ground, also for the last two years project for replacement of LT, HT and poles for district Shopian amounting to Rs 6.35 crores has been lying with the planning department for allocation of funds. On one hand recent CAG report has been castigating the government for misuse, diversion and wastage of huge funds in the power department while on the other hand people are getting electrocuted for lack of replacement of HT and LT service lines, she added.
Expressing deep sympathies with the bereaved family Mehb ooba Mufti has demanded ex-gratia to the victims family and also urged the government to immediately replace the damaged wires and poles so that such incidents are avoided in future.
