BJP yet to start construction of new party office building | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 5: It was almost two months ago on July 6 that the state unit of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) had performed bhoomi poojan in Trikuta Nagar area for their new party office building. Leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley arrived from Delhi along with battery of senior party leaders and incharge of J&K affairs to attend the function. While addressing the small gathering of party workers and supporters the senior party leaders had made a passionate appeal to the local cadre to work unitedly to raise money for the new party office. The party had decided to name the party office building on the name of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee to galvanise the support of disenchanted party workers. Two months down the line not a single brick has been added or an inch has been dug up to kick start the construction work of the new building. Insiders in the BJP claimed that after holding 'bhoomi poojan' the party leaders wanted to start the construction work immediately but due to some unforeseen reasons the work could not begin in time and everyone in the state unit is also waiting eagerly to see start of work. On the question of raising funds the party leaders opined that the party high command had pledged their support to the state unit but the responsibility of raising the majority of funds lie on our shoulders and we are already raising money on regular basis to ensure timely completion of the majestic party office building. |
