Protest against police thrashing, SHO refutes allegations

Jammu, Sept 5: Locals alleging alleged roughing up by Satwari police staged a demonstration in front of Police Station Satwari here today. However the SHO has refuted the allegations terming it group rivalry.
The protest was held following police allegedly Panch of Mukwal namely Surjeet Kumari and her husband retired Captain Pradeep were thrashed.
"Duo went to the police station to lodge complaint against five persons whom they identified as Laj Path S/o Sarda Ram, Kajoor Raj S/o Bhagwan Dass, Prema S/o Nand Lal, Ashok S/0 Garu and Kaku S/o Pandu all residents Nai Basti, instead of lodging case against them police thrashed Panch and her husband, reports said.
Meanwhile, SHO Satwari when contacted refused allegations and said that there was group rivalry between five persons mentioned above and the Panch.
He further refuted the allegations of thrashing.
