| Atypical 'Teacher's Day,' 40 teachers suspended in Poonch | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Sept 5: In an untoward development on Teacher's Day when teachers get reward for their best achievements, at least 40 teachers were suspended by Dy Director School Education Jammu who were found absent from their duties in block Bafliaz during a surprise check today.
"The action was taken by Deputy Director Education on the directions of Director School Education Jammu Gulzar Qureshi, sources said.
Giving details, official sources told this reporter that Deputy Director School Education Jammu raided nearly a dozen schools in block Bafliaz in border district Poonch today i.e. Teacher's Day and found large number of teachers missing from the schools.
Sources said, most of the absentee teachers had placed casual leave in records due to which no action could be taken against them. However, at least 40 teachers were found absent from their duties in unauthorized manner without citing any reason.
Taking serious note of the situation, Deputy Director placed at least 40 teachers under suspension till further inquiry.
Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Bafliaz told that all those suspended were found absent. He said that he came to know about the development only after the raids were carried by Deputy Director in many schools.
Sources said, in fact, few days back Director School Education Jammu was apprised about absenteeism among teaching community in remote areas who later instructed his staff to take action against erring teachers. The step has sent shock waves among those having habitual of remaining absent from the duties. |
