To be in limelight; now Bhim targets 'Washington Post' over PM Criticism
9/7/2012 12:14:43 AM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 6: This man once gave the slogan -- Dal Badluon Ki Aisi Safai Hogi, Sar Pe Bistar Bagal Mein Charpai Hogi. Two decades, or so after this slogan of Bhim Singh, nothing has, however, changed on ground here. But one thing does changed in these years; the NPP chief developed the art of remaining in limelight.
Be it a local issue, or the issues of national and international importance, he grabs every opportunity to project himself.
While Washington Post called Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as 'a tragic figure', Times magazine dubbed him as 'under-achiever'. The former today refused to apologise for its article and said it stood by its report.
Taking a serious note of the articles on Manmohan by these two media houses, Bhim showered the choicest praises on the Prime Minister.
In a statement issued from New Delhi, he described several newspapers published in the Anglo-American countries as the mouthpiece of "ugly white chauvinism and hatred which is evident from the recent uncalled for and hateful remarks published by the Washington Post, Times magazine and Independent against Manmohan.
He condemned the Washington Post for calling the Prime Minister as a tragic figure and the Times magazine for dubbing him as underachiever.
He showered praises on Manmohan and said he was the first Prime Minister of India who had carried India to the skies in the fields of economy, science and technology.
Bhim said the Anglo-American lobby and its media had been targeting India at every step that the country took to join the global competition, may it be a field in science and technology.
"They have been supporting Pakistan to browbeat India for decades. It was Henry Kissinger, Foreign Minister of the US, who had described Indira Gandhi as a 'bitch' and a 'witch' when she refused to take diktates from the US during Bangladesh-Pakistan War in 1971. The Anglo-American Bloc turned hostile to Manmohan after he expressed India's solidarity with the people of Palestine and refused to act as a pawn vis-à-vis Syria. It is Manmohan who during his address at 16th NAM Summit in Tehran refused to accuse Iran rather openly carried India's message to the world for complete disarmament," he added.
Realizing that Manmohan could not be manipulated or used by the Anglo-American Bloc to meet their requirements, the South Asian Desk at Washington had exhausted the vocabulary found in their 'abusive language directory' calling the Prime Minister 'timid', 'complacent' and 'intellectually dishonest'.
The NPP chief expressed shock that Ambika Soni had failed to use the world 'condemnation' against this insulting remark.
He called on the NAM countries as well as the leadership of third world to condemn the American media which was hell bent to demonize Manmohan.
Listing Manmohan's "qualities", Bhim opined that the left and the right (BJP) could not afford to even move a confidence motion against him.
The handout claimed that NPP workers today made a 'bonfire' of the Washington Post, Independent and Times magazine in New Delhi.
