Madan meets Army chief ; pleads for Border residents, ex-Servicemen

New Delhi, Sept 7 : Madan Lal Sharma, Member parliament Jammu Poonch constituency Met with chief of army staff General Bikram singh and pressed for the recruitment of the youth atleast one from each family in border areas of J&K, He apprised the general of the problems being faced by the border inhabitants and asked for demining from the agricultural fields, taking fence to zero point and enhancing compensation for the lands with army since 1971.
He informed General that many people did not got compensation of land for the last 18 years and requested for early release in their favour. He also complimented the yeomen services rendered by army on border loc and fighting militancy in the state.
He also demanded facilities for the ex- servicemen in Jammu and Kashmir at Par with other states of India. In a statement from NewDelhi Sharma said that people in army and para military forces spend most of their meaningful time away from their families and children in the service of Nation and it becomes the duty of the state to respect and recognize their services and provide them post retirement facalities .
He urged the state government, Cabinet and particularly to the young and dynamic Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take a lead and remove Vat from CSD canteens for former and serving soldiers and their families.
He also sought enhancement of quota in govt jobs for the ex_men below the age of 45, He expressed his concern over the non implementation of 2-3 % of quota which is already existing.
He appealed the chief minister to personally look into the affairs of the ex-servicemen and their families and provide them immediate relief which they deserve as the matter of their right and meritorious services they render to the society by guarding the borders and fighting militancy and insurgency because of which we get safe and comfortable sleeps and life. He said that many soldiers even lose their limbs and some tender supreme sacrifice of their lives. He said that he him self is an ex men and shared that after retirement ex solider spend their savings on constructing Pacca house and marriages of their children and become hand to mouth for rest of their lives. He said that small facilities like removing vat from canteen items etc can help them in a bigway .
He also urged the communities and officers to respect the ex servicemen and support them in all possible manner.
