| 5 killed, 15 injured in Doda road accident | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sept 7: In a tragic road accident at least five passengers were killed while 15 others sustained injuries, when a tempo traveller in which they were travelling skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge near Seri Bridge this afternoon.
"The deceased have been identified as Suresh Kumar s/o Raj Kumar r/o Nanpara UP, Neem Paul s/o Rashid Bhagat r/o Thananawab Ganj U.P , Sardari Lal s/o Charan Dass r/o Selani Top Doda, Bogi w/o Rashid Bhagat , r/o Thananawab Ganj U.P and one female child about 7 year d/o Chalu U.P," police spokesperson said.
Police said, "The ill fated vehicle bearing registration No: 3469/JK06 carrying about 20 passengers was on its way from Bhaderwah to Doda when it reached near Seri Bridge the driver lost its control over the vehicle due to which it rolled down into a deep gorge. "The road mishap resulted into death of five persons and injuries to 15 others out of them two persons have been critically wounded.
Police said, "Soon-after receiving the information about the accident, contingent of Police personnel rushed to the spot and started rescue operation."
"The occupants of the vehicle have been evacuated and rushed to district hospital Doda where from Police liaised with higher authorities and managed airlifting of seriously injured passengers to GMC Jammu for specialised treatment who have been identified as Irfan s/o Parvez Ahmed r/o Malnai Doda, Malwa w/o Kotri r/o Batwara UP, police added.
"Out of the injured 13 persons including eight children in the age group of 3 to 7 years have been admitted in District Hospital Doda and their condition is stated to be stable, police said . |
