Security guard among 4 arrested, 6 theft cases worked out

Jammu, Sept 7: Jammu Police claimed to have worked out six cases of theft with the arrest of four thieves here today.
Among the arrested thieves, one is a security guard of a private security company. "After every theft, the thieves went to the Delhi and Chandigarh with their Jammu based girl friends to enjoy luxurious life, said police. SSP Jammu Prabhat Singh giving information said that a special team headed by SS Sambyal SDPO City East Jammu, Inspr Sameer Jeelani SHO P /S Bahu Fort Jammu, Deepak Pathania SHO P /S Channi Himmat and Hilal Mohd Azhar I/C PP Narwal Bala was constituted following the reports of thefts which including chain snatchings in various localities of Jammu city. SSP Jammu further informed that the team of officers so constituted fanned out in City East to trap the snatchers and ultimately succeeded in apprehending the snatchers namely Ashish Changotra S/O Sham Lal Changotra R/O H.No. 840 Lane NO.6 Bhagwati Nagar Jammu and Prince Malhotra alias Kaka S/O Birdhari Lal Malhotra R/O Lane NO.5 Bhagwati Nagar Jammu.
"The duo was put on sustained questioning which later spilled the beans and confessed their involvement in lifting three Motorcycles and four Purse snatching, of which two were conducted in areas falling under jurisdiction of P /S Channi and one each in Gandhi Nagar/Trikuta Nagar areas, he said, adding the modus operandi of accused was that they used to steal motorcycle for executing the purse snatching and after committing the crime the stolen Motorcycles often were found abandoned.
Police recovered 3 motorcycles bearing registration no JK02AC/7591 stolen from SMGS Hospital, JK02V /6520 stolen from Shakti Nagar area and JK02V /8417 stolen from Nanak Nagar area. All the motorcycles were recovered from different locations of City East. Similarly on the disclosure of both accused three purses snatched recently from jurisdiction of P /S Channi Himmat and one from Trikuta Nagar were recovered. And cash contained in purses Rs. 17530/-, 3 Mobiles sets and other articles were also recovered. So far, 7 cases of snatching/vehicle lifting have been solved. Since the investigation is in preliminary stage and more recoveries from the accused is expected.
The Police team of PP Narwal headed by SI Hilal Mohd Azhar under the Supervision of SHO P /S Trikuta Nagar apprehended three thieves namely Zarit Gill alias Kalu S/O Wazir Gill R/O Narwal tammu , Raju Kumar alias Raju S/O Ram Gopal R/O Malik Market Jammu and Gourav Sharma S/O Gopi Sharma R/O Narwal Bala Jammu who were involved in stealing the batteries from heavy vehicles at Narwal, Sainik Colony and Malik Market areas etc. "On their disclosure, Police also have recovered 6 Batteries of heavy vehicles, one Maruti Car bearing registration no JKU /17 48 and 1 Gas Cylinder, SSP maintained.
