Why not any agitation on condition of Jammu roads….? | BJP State unit keen on support for coalgate issue | | ET Report JAMMU, Sept 7: State unit of BJP is behaving in a typical national party mode with its leadership and key functionaries interested and enthusiastic only in raising the issues at the national level, no matter there are scores of burning issues back home, most of these just outside their own headquarter compound. One wonders why they choose to sideline and ignore these issues and are zealous only in big political issues which its Central leadership is raking up, this time coalgate being the hot one which has stirred political corridors in New Delhi. Jammu is faced with a hell of problems on account of which the miseries of people have increased manifold, particularly over the last five months, ever since Durbar shifted to Srinagar. No locality, not even the posh colonies are in order. The roads and by lanes of almost every second locality have been uprooted beyond repairs. From inhabitants of these localities to motorists, all are facing hardships the dimensions of which every next day because the digging menace is still spreading its tentacles, with no one accountable for the hell like situation on the roads which witness heavy vehicular traffic. The irony is that there is no one having guts or concern worth even formality to raise questions as to what is happening on Jammu roads for the last five months. State unit of BJP, which tires itself calling themselves well wishers, sympathizers and saviours of Jammu people, is strangely enough witnessing this dilapidation and degradation in the name of development with sadistic pleasures. At least one can drive this conclusion for there has been no outcry, no attempt to organize mass protests or agitations on their own level. There is no dearth of BJP workers and supporters in the localities which are facing anarchic conditions with no order in any respect, that is expected there in a city area. People feel they have been living in some primitive era amid jungle raaj where no one is accountable to anyone. There is a feeling of helplessness and only helplessness everywhere, with people also trying to accommodate to the chaotic scenario. One only wonders why the State unit of BJP is so much keen on gathering support for coalgate, an issue which is already gaining momentum in party's favour at the national level. Is the current leadership doing it deliberately to be in the good books of New Delhi and avoiding any such effort of exercise on local issues which could prove beneficial to party in more than one way. The MLAs of the party are living in a 'comfortable zone' perhaps oblivious of what Jammu and people of Jammu are facing on day to day front . Would it be then appropriate to conclude what opposition often terms these MLAs as 'B-team of NC'……? |
