| Manoj's family gearing up to accord red carpet welcome | | Ready with long wish list to realise their dreams | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 9: A child who was fond of watching road shows of street magicians have magically made it big in real life by winning an amount of Rs 1 crore in the country’s popular game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
Son of a government school teacher the young boy grew up reading who's who, book on current affairs, and struck gold sitting in front of star of the millennium Amitabh Bacchan.
Now basking in the glory of his new found star status Manoj Kumar Raina, a native of Chowgam village in Anantnag, presently living in Paloura area is gearing up to receive hero's welcome. "I am waiting eagerly to meet all my family members and close friends on reaching home", Manoj said during a telephonic conversation from Mumbai.
Back home his father Bansi Lal Raina, along with all his family members are preparing for a grand celebration on his arrival. Manoj is expected to reach Jammu on Tuesday.
His son Satyam Raina and children of his elder brother and sister have prepared a long list of items. According to them Manoj worked hard to realise his dream of sitting on the hot seat of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
A diehard fan of Big B, Manoj ran from school to watch shooting of Amitabh films in Kashmir valley. He even watched his block buster movies more than once before getting serious with business of life.
Having faced tough times during peak of militancy and later forced exodus from the Kashmir valley Manoj is looking forward to rebuild his ancestral home in Chowgam. "His close friends from Kashmir are calling us each day to congratulate him and share their happiness", Jaya Raina mother of Manoj told visiting team of media persons on Sunday.
His father recollected old memories of his student days and said as a government teacher I tried my level best to provide quality education to all my three children including daughter Leenu Labroo. Manoj's elder brother SK Raina is currently posted in the Income Tax department while Manoj is working as assistant in the Railways.
He along with his wife is posted in Sangaldan and it is here he spent maximum time on preparation for the KBC 6. "I used to work late in the night on the internet and read magazines, news papers and all relevant material to prepare for the big event," said Manoj.
Manoj's sister Leenu Labroo said his brother worked hard before joining Railways and now he will fulfill his dreams one by one.
His son, studying in class IV in GD Goenka Public school is also ready with a long wish list of German Shepherd, Laptop, Play station, Toys etc. "I am proud of my son”, said Bansi Lal Raina while narrating anecdotes of struggle faced by Manoj. He always worked secretly inside his room probably thinking that I may force him to stop all this. But when he shared the news that he has been called by the KBC in Amritsar for some screening my hopes were raised.
I felt confident and believed all along given an opportunity Manoj can make it big .He did the same and done us proud. Meanwhile, speaking over telephone from Mumbai Manoj expressed his heartiest thanks to all his colleagues, elder members of the Kashmiri Pandit community for guiding him, close friends and people of Jammu who helped him in his journey and supported him through difficult times. |
