NMC seeks release of 7 per cent DA
9/9/2012 10:48:23 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 9:  National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has urged upon the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to announce pending installment of 7 per cent dearness allowance due from July this year in favour of both central and state government employees at the next Cabinet meeting.
This was stated by NMC president Subash Shastri while addressing a largely attended NMC workers rally at Jhiri. He said that salaried class was facing a lot of economic hardship due to high inflation and price rise and the release of DA would be a genuine measure to provide some relief to them.
He added that delay in the release of DA would not only put burden on the central government exchequer but also increase difficulties of both central and state government employees and pensioners. Emphasizing on formulation of a National Pay Policy throughout the country, Shastri demanded setting up of a new Pay Commission which would cover both central and state government’s employees.
He said that the DA of employees & pensioners has gone up to 65%, as it exceeded more than 50% after the release of DA from January 1, 2011, hence the 50% DA should be merged with basic pay or pension and the remaining 15% should be paid in accordance with the merged basic salary or pension of e111ployees and pensioners.
Enhancement in the wages of daily wage workers to Rs 300 per day, regularization of the services of daily rated workers, grant of disturbed areas allowance on the pattern of north eastern states· to all government employees, implementation of all central labour laws and declaring Jammu and Srinagar cities as B-1 City were other demands highlighted. Among others who also spoke on the occasion which included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Sham Lal Sharma, Rakesh Padha, Ashok Khajuria, Anil Singh Slathia, Bhopinder Singh, Mohan Lal Shanna, Barkat Rant, Girdhari Lal Bhagat, Vijay Bhagat, Kamal Kishore, Kasturi Lal, Vijay Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Pawan Sharma; Subash Chander, Ram Lal, Karnail Singh, Gian Chand, others.
