No clue about militants responsible for killing SPO, injuring soldier | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 9 : There was still no clue about the militants responsible for killing a Special Police Officer (SPO) and injuring an Army jawan in apple township of Sopore, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir yesterday. However, police and security forces have mobiled their all "cats", (informers) to get information about the militants behind the shootout. SPO Riyaz ul-Hassan Mir and Army jawan Tariq Ahmad Mir of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI), who were unarmed, were shot at from close range with a pistol by militants at Gundbrat, 4 km from Sopore, when they were on Saidpora. They were reportedly on leave, sources said. Mir, who was was struggling for life in the S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), where he was admitted last evening. Sources said a number of suspected persons were questioned in the town and other areas in the district. However, no clue was so far received. The firing incident took place the day India and Pakistan foreign ministers were discussing bilateral relations in Islamabad. |
