Hisham, Sidhant help Jammu win final | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Sept 9: Brilliant display of batting from Hisham and superb bowling spell from Ramandeep today helped Jammu district clinch the divisional level inter-district boys’ under-19 cricket trophy outplaying host district Kishtwar by 20 runs in the final played at Chowgan ground, here. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Jammu set a target of 102 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 12 overs game, which, in reply, Kishtwar could not chase and exhausted their quota of 12 overs for 81 runs losing nine wickets. Hisham Saleem batted well contributing highest 46 runs while Mohit Gupta added 14 runs to the total. From Kishtwar, Dawood was most successful bowler with three for 12 in two overs while Mubashar bagged two wickets for 20 runs in three overs. Later, Kishtwar could not reach the required total in given 12 overs and in the process lost their nine wickets. Bhuhran was top scorer with 25 runs, followed by Hinan and Amir, who added 16 and 12 runs respectively. From Jammu district, Ramandeep claimed four wickets giving away 15 runs in three overs while Sidhant Singh Bagal bagged three wickets. In three matches played by Jammu, Sidhant took eight wickets. Man of the series and best bowler trophy went to Mohit Gupta while Bhuhran declared best batsman. In the final and prize distribution function, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar was chief guest. Chander Shekhar and Javed Ahmed play a key role in the successful conduct of the tournament. Earlier, in the semifinals, Jammu outplayed district Poonch while Kishtwar defeated Udhampur. All the 10 districts of Jammu Division took part in this knock-out tournament organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports under the overall supervision of district officer, Subash Chander. |
