Part of IMFA College collapses, panicky students stage protest | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 10: A part of Government Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA) College, Talab Tillo collapsed during working hours resulting into panic among students over their safety who later staged a strong protest against the authorities. Pertinently, the college building has been declared unsafe from last 15 years but Jammu University is running Music and Fine Arts College in the unsafe declared building till date putting student life at risk. Expressing their resentment against the Jammu University as well State Government, the IMFA students boycotted their classes after the incidence and staged a protest demanding new building for the college. Talking to media persons who rushed to the spot soon after the news flashed through the city, the protestors said that that around 9:30 when they were doing practice in the class, a part of ceiling fall down causing injury to one the student and also destroying many musical instruments. Protesting students while showing the various cracks in the building and its collapsed part lamented about the risk that hanging like swords over them during the working hours. Students also rued about non availability of drinking water and dilapidated condition of toilets in the college.They have urged upon Jammu University as well state government for the construction of a new building for Music and Fine Arts College or shifting of the college to some other building as an adhoc measure for the security of students and the faculty members. |
